Plug In ICA presents Disruption from within, a solo exhibition by Michel de Broin. Based in Montreal, de Broin has received international acclaim for his sculptural projects and installations, and won the Sobey Art Award in 2007.

July 27, 2009 - August 22, 2009

In this documentation of a 2007 performance, Under Hypnosis, New York and now Berlin-based artist Matt Mullican has recreated his bedroom and studio on stage. Mullican performs while under hypnosis, and his trance state can last up to several hours. During this time he might pour himself coffee, pace the floor, grunt, sing, draw and paint.

Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art will host an artist talk by Shezad Dawood on Thursday, July 15 at 7:00 pm. Dawood is currently a visiting artist for Plug In ICA’s Summer Institute in which eight other artists are currently participating.

On Friday June 11, 2010 Plug In ICA presents Open Studios, the wrap-up event for the Summer Institute: Session 1: Postcommodity. From May 25 to June 11, fifteen artists and curators from across Canada have participated in Plug In ICA’s annual Summer Institute.

On Saturday, May 29 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Lee-Ann Martin, Jenny Western, Steven Loft and Candice Hopkins will participate in a curatorial talk. They will discuss their respective practices and the upcoming Close Encounters: Next 500 Years, an exhibition focusing on the future and past of Aboriginal people in Canada, occurring January 2011.
